It sounds a lot like something I could write myself, and I am sure there are many, many of us out there! For me - born and brought up in a very conservative, catholic country - Janeway was the only strong, positive role model I had whist growing up. It perhaps sounds funny to some and pretentious to others, but I would never be the person I am today - a strong, positive young woman following my dreams - if not for her. She gave me the bravery to follow my dreams and the ability to believe that there is more out there - and that I too can boldly go and get there, even if it will take longer than expected. A big, BIG thank you to Kate Mulgrew for portraying Kathryn Janeway - and for giving one sad little girl hope that kept her going till she became a happy young woman.
